Whale watching season is upon us. During the early months of the year, the whales begin their migration back northward, toward Alaska and northern Pacific waters, from their annual winter migration down to the warm Mexican Baja waters.
Periodically, San Diego Bay is visited by stray gray whales, which make our local waters their temporary home during the migration back north. These whales continue to be spotted off the downtown shorelines breaching the surface and feeding off the shallow bottoms of our local waters.
